Chapman Freeborn expands global network with opening of Africa office

4th February 2009

Chapman Freeborn Airchartering is delighted to announce the opening of a new office in Uganda.

The move means Chapman Freeborn has become the first international charter firm to establish a presence in Africa.

The new office will be headed by Iain Clark, who will be responsible for the development of cargo and passenger business in his role as regional manager of Africa.

Iain brings with him a wealth of experience to Chapman Freeborn having worked in a variety of management roles in sales and operations across Africa in an aviation career spanning more than a decade.

Carol Norman, managing director of the Chapman Freeborn Group, said:

"We are delighted with the opening of our Uganda office. After the successful launch of our first South American operation last year, the addition of an African office consolidates our unrivalled global coverage.

"In Iain Clark we have a seasoned professional who together with his team brings local knowledge and expertise in the African charter market. This further unlocks Africa's potential for our worldwide offices and client base."

Working closely with the rest of Chapman Freeborn's network, Entebbe can accommodate wide body flights from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Far East and Southern Africa. Appropriate aircraft can then be utilised to connect to smaller and remote airstrips across Africa.

With its proximity to African countries such as the Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Somalia and Tanzania, the new office will provide local knowledge and expertise to assist with Chapman Freeborn's humanitarian and peacekeeping flight operations.

Elsewhere, the Chapman Freeborn Africa team will offer air charter solutions to clients from a variety of other sectors including mining, energy, telecommunications and manufacturing industries.

Chapman Freeborn has 32 offices in 22 countries across five continents and coordinated more than 5,000 cargo and passenger charters last year.
