Private jet demand to soar again as Wilkinson kicks England into the Rugby World Cup Final

14th October 2007

Rugby-loving city slickers planning to charter private jets to watch England in the World Cup final have been warned to book early to avoid soaring prices.

Chapman Freeborn, a market leader for private air charters, is advising executives to book early to avoid costly disappointment as tens of thousands of rugby fanatics prepare to descend on Paris to roar Brian Ashton’s team on.

Early last week a flight to Paris Le Bourget Airport with a one night stopover on an eight seat midsize jet started at around £9,000. By the middle of the week the same trip was going for £14,000 and availability was as rare as a French try.

Julie Black, passenger charter broker at Chapman Freeborn’s UK office, said:

"It is vital to book early otherwise getting a jet will be harder that an Andrew Sheridan tackle.

"In the week before the match against France we saw demand outstrip supply to such an extent that those who booked early were saving thousands of pounds over supporters who left things late."

"By the end of last week virtually every available jet in the south of England was booked, and Le Bourget airport, the airport of choice for private jet users on the outskirts of Paris reported ’unprecedented traffic levels’."

Midsize jets like a Raytheon Hawker 800XP or a Cessna Citation Excel typically hold between 7-9 passengers and are popular with the executive crowd, providing spacious stand-up cabins at a more affordable price than heavier private jet models and are ideally suited to the 40 minute hop.

Clients using Chapman Freeborn can fly to Paris from smaller, less congested airports such Farnborough, or Biggin Hill, bypassing the expected bustle of swarming crowds at Heathrow, Gatwick and Eurostar terminals. With 10 mins check-in even for comprehensive security checks and then just 40 minutes in the air, that’s an incredible time saving when compared to catching a commercial flight from one of the big airports where you have to check in 2 hours prior to flight – and that’s if there are any seats left. No wonder savvy executives are calling the likes of Chapman Freeborn to organize the smart way to the Stade de France.
