Chapman Freeborn Singapore appointed exclusive IL76-TD-90 agents in SE Asia & Australia

30th May 2007

Chapman Freeborn Airchartering Pte Ltd in Singapore is delighted to announce that we have been appointed by Silk Way Airlines, Azerbaijan, effective immediate, as the exclusive representatives in South East Asia & Australasia for Silk Way’s brand new IL76-TD-90 aircraft.

The newest aircraft in their fleet, Silk Way Airlines’ IL76-TD-90 aircraft was manufactured by Ilyushin Aviation Complex, delivered in April 2007 & entered into commercial service only in May 2007.

The aircraft is ICAO Chapter 4 compliant which means that it can operate air charters to the many countries where the older IL76’s have been banned for a number of years due to their noisy engines. Examples are Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bahrain, throughout European Union & North America.

IL76-TD-90 aircraft is capable of carrying more air cargo than the older IL76 aircraft and has an increased payload & extended range against previous models. It’s cargo door is larger than B747 freighter, allowing it to carry oversized air cargo too big or heavy for Western built freighter aircraft and ideal for project cargos. The IL76-TD-90 is also well suited for transportation of aircraft engines & time critical AOG parts.

The IL76-TD-90 aircraft has it’s own crane & winch systems for cargo handling, unlike Western built freighters, IL76-TD-90 aircraft is not reliant on expensive ground handling equipment that usually can not be found at remote airports where industries like Oil / Gas are centred. This makes the IL76-TD-90 aircraft a perfect solution to move time critical aircargo that needs to be transported quickly to destinations that are off of the scheduled networks of larger cargo aircraft.

Regional industries that will benefit from the capabilities of IL76-TD-90 aircraft include Airlines, Oil/Gas, Aerospace & Ship Spares Silk Way’s IL76-TD-90 aircraft is one of only two such aircraft operating in the world, Silk Way has other IL76-TD-90 aircraft under order for future delivery.

CF Singapore’s Mark Middleton comments:"I am delighted that Chapman Freeborn has been chosen by Silk Way Airlines as their exclusive agent for SEA / Australasia.

"Since the older IL76’s where banned, there has been a gap in the market for an aircraft capable to transport heavy & oversized air cargo in the region. Customers with time critical cargo will benefit now that the IL76-TD-90 is available for charter operations"
