Chapman Freeborn Network Sends Relief to Morocco After Recent Earthquake

24th March 2004

The Chapman Freeborn network once again responded promptly to the recent disastrous earthquake on Morocco on 24th February. As many as six Chapman Freeborn offices were involved in the efforts to send urgent relief supplies to the crisis-hit country.

Our French offices arranged two flights to Nador and one to Al Hoceima. On the latter of these, famous Morroccan-born French International Rugby star, Abdelatif Benazzi also flew to assist with the efforts in his homeland.

Chapman Freeborn Spain chartered aircraft financed by local governments in Andalusia and Barcelona to send supplies and personnel.

Our London office sent an urgent Antonov 12 on behalf of a Japanese charity; Germany organized flights on behalf of the German Red Cross; Belgium performed for the Flanders Red Cross and finally our Sharjah office flew 14 flights with IL-76s to Al Hoceima.

Once more, this highlighted one of the nicer aspects of working in such circumstances – the rewarding nature of sending urgent relief to a crisis zone and knowing that we are in some small way, doing some good in such sad circumstances.
