Chapman Freeborn represent Pulkovo as giant Russian carrier starts
operations from Warsaw to Russian regionals
4th March 2004
Chapman Freeborn have further expanded their GSA and Airport Representation
operations with a huge gain in Poland – a partnership with Russian airline
Pulkovo.
Pulkovo owns and operates half of the Aeroflot fleet and operates twice
as many aircraft as Polish flag carrier LOT will on March 28th start services
from Warsaw’s Okecie Airport directly to Russian regional destinations previously
served from Warsaw such as Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Vladivostok
on Fridays and Sundays. There are also plans to consider future services
from Gdansk.
Pulkovo operate TU-154, TU-134 and IL-86. They also own an airport in St.
Petersburg and operate the Presidential aircraft.
For the last two years Chapman Freeborn have been in negotiations with
Pulkovo since they applied to exploit a new agreement to increase air transport
links between Poland and Russia. In August 2003, Pulkovo received the necessary
permission to operate in Poland and since January 2004, Chapman Freeborn
has been selling Pulkovo tickets.
Chapman Freeborn’s Polish General Manager Idalia Glodowska comments:"this
is a very exciting development for us in Poland and I am sure it will in
turn generate an increase of both passengers and cargo traffic between Poland
and Russia. It will also open up a whole new holiday market with these improved
airline connections to the Black Sea holiday resorts, which were not previously
easy to reach by air."
