Chapman Freeborn Proves Urgent Christmas Cargo Charters Are Plain Sailing!
12th January 2004
When an urgent request came in to our Frankfurt office to rush a new engine
out to a stranded cruise ship in Honolulu, Hawaii over the Christmas holidays,
it took team working between our German, Belgian and American offices to
get the job done.
Within hours of receiving the call, we had contracted an Antonov 26 to
rush the engine from Sweden to a waiting DC-8 in Brussels where the cargo
was loaded and then flown PDQ to Vancouver. After a 4 hour trans-shipment
it was then flown onwards to Honolulu - actually on an Air Canada line service,
saving the end client vital time and of course, money.
Clever thinking helped all involved find a unique solution with the last
leg being operated on a line flight so we could keep the tight schedule
required of the ships’ operators to prevent many Christmas and New Year
cruise passengers from being disappointed.
Yet another job done economically and a very satisfied client... all this
over the Christmas holidays and think of poor old Christian Söhlmann from
our Frankfurt office who enjoyed his Christmas breakfast, lunch and dinner
on board the DC-8 freighter!
