School project takes off with elementary lesson in air travel
Chapman Freeborn Italia has teamed up with SACBO Spa to organise a special introductory flight for a group of 148 school children as part of a project on the four elements.
The children, from the Scuola per l'infanzia (nursery school) Maria Bambina in Monza, experienced a flight on a Trawel Fly Boeing 737-300, operated by Astraeus Airlines.
The trip included a guided tour of Bergamo's Orio al Serio International Airport (BGY), where the children visited various organisations in the concourse area, viewed the passenger lounges and followed the route from check in to boarding.
The children, aged between four and five, then enjoyed a 45 minute round trip before being presented with 'First Flight' certificates along with three of the parents who had also never flown before.
After receiving their farewells from the captain and crew the children went to the baggage conveyor belt to each pick up a surprise gift as a memento of the day - a book on the history of the airport and some luggage tags for their next flight.
Chapman Freeborn has 32 offices in 22 countries. The company coordinated more than 5,000 cargo and passenger aircraft charters last year.
